PDF Template Formatting

Adjust the aesthetics of the PDFs your Templates produce

Written by Geoff Ostrega

Overview

Template Formatting lets you fine-tune the aesthetics of the PDFs generated from your Document PDF Templates — such as font sizes, padding, spacing, borders, and the positioning/width of elements on the page.

Access it under Admin > Templates > Template Format and then select a Document type (e.g. Invoice) and a specific Document (e.g. Invoice 113) to view and adjust.

Note: Format settings apply to all templates, regardless of type. A change made while previewing an invoice will also apply to your Purchase Order and Sales Order PDFs.

See the video below for a walkthrough (formatting is covered near the end):

Adjusting the Format

  1. Select the Type (e.g. Invoice) and a Document to Preview in the Preview Box — an existing document, so you can see your changes against real data.

  2. Adjust the format settings and watch the preview update in real time.

  3. Click Submit to save your changes.

Settings options:

  • Company Font Size

  • Top Right List Padding, Font Size, and Bottom Border

  • Address Card Widths, Header Font Size, and Font Size

  • Table Header Font Size and Table Font Size

  • Notes Card Width

  • Bottom Right List Padding, Font Size, and Bottom Border

Reset to Defaults

You can always revert to the default Template formats by clicking the Reset button at the bottom of the Formats box — so feel free to experiment with changes in real time, knowing you can change back to the defaults at any point.

For details on creating the templates themselves, see the Document PDF Templates article.
