Description
Create and edit your custom dimensions here. Custom dimensions are a line item level dimension that can be added to any Document (Journal Entry, Invoice, Bill, etc.). These are commonly used for creating a dimension that is relevant for your organization (e.g. Property, Region, Salesperson, etc.).
Enabling Custom Dimensions
By default, Custom Dimensions are not visible in SoftLedger under the Financial section until they are enabled in the Settings>Dimension section. In this way, you can also enable the other standard dimensions of Products and Jobs.
In the Settings page below, you can name and enable custom dimensions (up to 3), and moreover you can choose where those Dimensions appear and can be added. For example, you can have a Dimension appear to be tagged on Bill Line items, but not on Invoice Line Items (like in the 'Investor' dimension in the screenshot below).
Note: When a Custom Dimension solely has has been 'Enabled', but no other Documents have been toggled ON, then that Dimension will only be available to Journal Entries.
Create/Edit Custom Dimension
Once you have created the Dimensions in the Settings section, you can then see the name of the Dimension under the Financial section menu. Within that section, you can add new entries for the Dimension within that section, or through excel upload in the Dimension Upload section.
Within the UI, enter all required fields and click submit. You can also click the down arrow next to the submit button and click 'Submit and New' to open a new blank Custom Dimension to complete.
