Did you know? You can create separate SoftLedger user accounts under the same email address using email aliases. This lets you switch between different roles and permissions without logging out and back in.

How It Works

Most email providers (Gmail, Outlook, etc.) support the + syntax, which lets you create email variations that all route to the same inbox:

Both accounts go to your inbox, but SoftLedger treats them as separate users with their own login credentials and permissions.

Why Use This?

One person, multiple roles – No need to share passwords or create fake user accounts
Better security – Each role has its own login credentials
Easier auditing – Activity is tracked separately by account
Flexible permissions – Grant different access levels without creating duplicate users

Quick Setup

  1. Create your alias email – Add +wording to your email address (e.g., john.smith+manager@company.com)

  2. Add a new user in SoftLedger – Use Admin → Users → Add User

  3. Enter the alias email – SoftLedger will send an invitation to your inbox

  4. Set up the account – Complete registration and assign the specific roles/permissions you need

  5. Log in anytime – Switch between accounts using your email aliases

Example: Multi-Location Manager

A manager at a multi-location business could have:

All notifications go to one inbox, and she can easily switch accounts as needed.

Note: Verify that your email provider supports the + syntax. Most do, but some corporate email systems may have restrictions.
